Hoop Dee Doo Revue is a dinner theater show located at the Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort inside the Pioneer Hall. Step back in time for some good old fashioned family fun; with vaudeville comedy and knee slapping tunes! This is my family’s favorite dinner show at Disney thus far.
If you’re not staying at The Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort your travel options are to ferry over from Magic Kingdom, allow for an hour and a half of travel time. Bus from your Disney Resort hotel to Fort Wilderness Resort where you can then use Fort Wilderness’ bus transit to get to Pioneer Hall. Or, if you’re driving your own vehicle, you can park at the entrance of Fort Wilderness Resort and use their bussing system.
Disney suggests you check in a half an hour before show time and I agree! The line up can be large to get into the hall when it comes time to file in and if you’re anything like me; I prefer to be prepared by showing up early or anxiety will take hold of me.
Ticket prices range from $64 to $72 for Disney aged adults 10 and up and $38 to $43 for ages 3 to 9. Ages 2 and under are free to sit on an adult’s lap and eat off an adults plate. There is a price range because Hoop Dee Doo has three different categories for seating, 3, 2, and 1. Categories 3 and 2 includes seating in the balcony, rear and sides of the hall. You can use 2 Disney dining credits for categories 3 and 2, however you can not use Disney dining credits for category 1. Category 1 is where we have purchased tickets for both of our visits to Hoop Dee Doo. Category one puts you front and center of the stage for the best views and character interactions.
Dinner is served family style. You’ll receive heaping portions of fried chicken, smoked BBQ pork ribs, green salad, baked beans, corn bread and top it off with fresh strawberry shortcake. The fried chicken at Hoop Dee Doo is some of the best we’ve had on Disney property outside of Chef Art Smith’s Homecoming, of course. It is worthy to note that you can get the same fried chicken onsite at Wilderness Resort at Crockett’s Tavern just in case you get a hankering for that Hoop Dee Doo chicken but don’t want to pay the price tag of the dinner show. Soft drinks are included in your ticket price as well as unlimited draft beer, wine and sangria for adults 21 years and older
We have been to Hoop Dee Doo during the summer when they do their normal show as well as during Christmas time where they switch out their traditional folk tunes for classic Christmas songs. Both shows are comparable and have the same story line, however the Christmas show held a little more magic for me with the cozy Christmas decorations inside pioneer hall and Christmas carols.
Throughout the entire show the cast truly involves the audience, encouraging patrons to become cast members. From the opportunity to be chosen to be part of the show on stage, singing and dancing with the cast and getting to play along on washboards at your own table while singing, stomping and clapping. This is a fantastic show for all ages; not only were the adults enthralled but the children remained entertained throughout the entirety of the dinner show! Disney promises entertainment for all ages and Hoop Dee Doo certainly delivers on that promise.
This is one of those dining experiences you will want to reserve well in advance, especially if you want to sit in category 1. I would not recommend using your Disney dining plan unless you have the deluxe dining plan. As a personal rule of thumb I never use the dining plan for meals that are two meal credits except when we eat on the deluxe plan. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to arrive well before the show, there are a lot of great photo opportunities outside of Pioneer Hall and if you’ve never been to the Cabins at Fort Wilderness Resort its worth strolling around. There is a playground close by for kids to blow off steam and if you line your visit up right you can catch the Electrical Water Pageant that tugs along the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake after the show.
Whether you’re traveling with children or without, Hoop Dee Doo Revue is worth the visit!
